Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact our Privacy Officer using the details at the end of this page.
1. Who we are
PawsOnMainRx is the veterinary compounding service of Carebridge Pharmacy, a community pharmacy at 101-4484 Main Street, Vancouver, British Columbia V5V 3R3. Carebridge Pharmacy is operated by 1553084 B.C. Ltd. and is licensed by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia (Pharmacy Licence 15176). This policy covers the website pawsonmainrx.ca and the pharmacy services we provide to pet owners and veterinary clinics.
2. The laws that apply
We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and, where it applies, Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. As a licensed pharmacy we also keep prescription and dispensing records as required by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and applicable pharmacy legislation.
3. What we collect
When you or your veterinarian contact us about a prescription, we collect:
- Your name, phone number, email address, and, for delivery, your mailing address.
- Details about your animal, such as name, species, breed, weight, and relevant health information.
- The prescription and clinical information provided by your veterinarian, and our dispensing records.
- Payment details needed to complete a transaction. We do not store full card numbers on our website.
When you use the contact form on this website, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, phone number, your veterinary clinic, details about your animal, and your message. You may also choose to upload a photo, scan, or PDF of a prescription. Uploaded files are stored in private, access-controlled storage operated by our hosting provider, are shared only with the pharmacy through a time-limited link sent to the pharmacy's inbox, and are deleted from that storage automatically after 30 days. Information from a submission that becomes part of a prescription record is then kept in the pharmacy's dispensing records as described in section 7. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a submission comes from a person rather than an automated program; Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser for that purpose. We send an email acknowledgement to the address you provide.
Our hosting provider also processes standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, to deliver the site securely and reliably. The IP address used to submit a form is included in the notification to the pharmacy to help detect misuse. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves your browser requesting files from Google's servers. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
4. How we use it
- To prepare, dispense, and label compounded medications for your animal on your veterinarian's prescription.
- To communicate with you and your veterinary clinic about a prescription, refill, dose change, or pickup.
- To arrange pickup or delivery and to process payment.
- To keep the pharmacy records that the law and the College require.
- To respond to your questions and to keep this website secure.
We collect and use only what is reasonable for these purposes, and we ask for your consent where the law requires it. Providing a prescription to us is treated as consent to use the information needed to fill it.
5. Who we share it with
- Your veterinarian or veterinary clinic, to confirm and coordinate treatment.
- Delivery carriers, limited to what they need to deliver an order.
- Service providers who help us run the pharmacy and this website, such as our dispensing software, hosting, and email providers. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Regulators, insurers, or authorities where the law requires or permits it, including the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for marketing by others.
6. Where it is kept
Pharmacy records are kept in British Columbia. Some service providers, including the company that hosts this website and the service that delivers our email notifications, may store or process information on servers outside Canada, including the United States. This includes files uploaded through the contact form and the emails that notify the pharmacy about a submission. Where that happens, the information is protected by contract and by the safeguards those providers maintain, and the file storage is private, time-limited, and purged after 30 days.
7. How long we keep it
Prescription and dispensing records are kept for the period required by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and applicable law. General enquiries are kept only as long as needed to answer them and for a reasonable period afterwards. When information is no longer needed, we destroy or anonymize it securely.
8. How we protect it
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including restricted access to pharmacy systems and secure disposal. Please remember that ordinary email and fax are not fully secure. For anything sensitive, we encourage you to call us or ask your veterinarian to send the prescription directly. We will never ask you for full payment card details by email.
9. Your choices and rights
- You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to correct anything inaccurate.
- You may withdraw consent for uses that are not required by law, though this may limit the services we can provide. Records the law requires us to keep will be retained.
- You may ask us how we handle your information, or raise a concern, at any time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada where federal law applies.
10. Children
This website and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and prescriptions are handled with the animal's adult owner or guardian.
11. Other websites
This site links to other websites, including Carebridge Pharmacy. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the current version is always available at pawsonmainrx.ca/privacy/.
